If you’re looking for a Midtown spot that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still serves up seriously good food, Mexican Radio (aka MEXRAD) is a must-visit. Their name nods to the song “Mexican Radio,” capturing the same creative, quirky spirit that drives this laid-back taco shop. Here, everything is a little unexpected, a little playful, and a lot of fun.
The menu is intentionally tight, spotlighting unconventional tacos like Fried Chicken with white onion, pickle, and local honey on a flour tortilla, or the Fish and Chips taco with Old Bay–battered cod, jalapeño remoulade, potato haystack, and a lemon wedge on a corn tortilla. Don’t skip the apps: the Brisket Papas (smoked brisket, green chile queso, pico de gallo, cotija on crispy tots with ancho ranch drizzle) are a crowd favorite. Rooted in Tex-Mex but influenced by flavors from around the world, the dishes feel familiar but never predictable. Add frozen drinks, cold beer, and playful cocktails, and you’ve got a spot that’s fresh, flavorful, and full of personality.
