GET TO KNOW... Bruce Rinehart, owner of Rococo

 

01. What did you want to be when you were a kid?
I became passionate about the restaurant industry at an early age; both grandpas were chefs (one in the Merchant Marines). Grew up around food and it was a natural fit.

02. What was your first job?
It was as a dishwasher at Ship's Wheel in New London, CT at age of 16; will never forget that job.

03. What do you like to do in your free time?
Not a lot of free time these days. When there is free time; golf, visit Las Vegas or New York; spend time with family; lounge poolside with wine at the Rinehart Resort (home).

04. What's the best advice you've ever received?
"Do unto others what you would want done unto you" & "Run for president everyday & you'll be successful".

05. How long have you been in business and how did you get started?
Nearly seven years; started on a wing and a prayer (gratuitous Bon Jovi reference).

06. Why do you choose to operate your business in Oklahoma as opposed to somewhere else?
Oklahoma turned out to be more than expected. I'm Okiefied; I love it here; the people and what OK is about. People down here I found right away are loyal; friendships formed with others who contribute to the community as well.

07. Why do you think its important to keep it local?
There is a synergy that goes above and beyond economics. I don't think people realize how many business owners are actually out there. It gives businesses the ability to have their own identity. It is, however, challenging to connect all supply lines and communication. Groups like Keep It Local OK help bridge the gaps in communication and inform public about local support.

08. What locally owned business (other than your own) could you not live without?
Peach Crest Farm; San Marcos - good people and they take care of us well; Saii - Fin is great and treats our family well.

09. Our Facebook fans want to know: What is it that sets you apart from the national chains and promotes loyal, repeat customers?
We built something that is real and genuine. There is so much indifference in the restaurant industry. We like to kiss babies; how many places have the owners shaking hands and checking on guests directly?

10. Our Twitter followers want to know: What drives you to keep doing what you do?
My passion for the industry and building something for my family. I love my wife and kids.
