Get Rewarded For Eating, Shopping and Playing Local

Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTIONS WE'VE HEARD SO MANY TIMES, WE JUST GAVE THEM THEIR VERY OWN PAGE!

What is Keep It Local OK?
We exist for one simple reason - to help people discover the best local spots in town. With a Keep It Local Card you get rewarded for eating, shopping, and playing local. Plus, you get the added enjoyment of supporting a great local business or discovering a new favorite. And business owners get what they want most - happy, loyal customers who are likely to spread the word about their experiences. Happy cardholders, happy businesses - we call that a WIN-WIN!

Where can I get a Keep It Local Card?
Visit one of these participating locations to buy a card for just 15 bucks or buy a card online right now and we'll mail it to you. BONUS - we donate $1 from every 2023 card sold to our Nonprofit Partners, Restore OKC and Lindsey House, so you're showing even more local love!

Do Keep It Local Cards expire?
Yes - Keep It Local Cards can be used as often as you like, beginning on Small Business Saturday of the previous year and expiring on December 31st of the year on the card (ex - 2023 cards are good from Small Business Saturday 2022 through December 31st 2023). Every new year we release a brand new card with a new original design for you to replace your current card and add to your growing collection of awesome local art.

Is there an app for that?
You know it! Download the FREE Keep It Local OK App on the iTunes App Store (Android coming soon)

Can I use the app as a substitute for carrying around my Keep It Local Card?
That would be awesome! But not yet. We're working on coming up with some solutions to make the card digital in our new app. These things take time, and we want to do it right. So for the time being, just tuck that card away in your wallet.

I don't see my favorite local business on your site. Where is it?
This is where you come in. Yes...YOU! We're constantly working with local businesses to add new and exciting rewards for Keep it Local OK cardholders to enjoy. If you'd like to see even more great local businesses join Keep It Local OK, simply ask that location (very nicely, of course) to contact us

How can my local business become a Keep It Local OK member?
Simple. Check out our business membership page to learn more.

Do I have to wait until January for my local business to join Keep It Local OK?
You can join Keep It Local OK anytime! Once you join, your membership is good for 12 months, regardless of when you sign up during the year.

Will you donate something to our event?
Short answer: Maybe. Giving back is what we're all about. We have changed some of our donation policies recently, so please understand that we take every request on a case-by-case basis. Email us and we'll be in touch.

I've never heard of Keep It Local OK before. How long have you been doing this?
We launched Keep It Local OK in Oklahoma City in 2010 with nothing more than a love for the great state of Oklahoma and its unique local businesses. We believe that together, with other like-minded people, we can help build a better local community.

Are you a non-profit organization?
Well...no. We prefer the term, "not-only-for-profit." Legally, we are not a tax-exempt 501(c) non-profit organization but we do filter the majority of our resources back into the Keep It Local OK brand in order to promote local businesses and accomplish our mission. We are a small, grassroots operation with no affilliation to any outside investors or parent companies.

What's the heaviest weight lifted by a human beard?
Ooh, good question! According to Guinness World Records, the heaviest weight lifted by a human beard was about 141 pounds by Antana Kontrimas of Istanbul, Turkey. Yep, that's the weight of a decent-sized person hanging from his facial hair. Think you can do better?

I tried to use my Keep It Local Card but the employee wouldn't accept it. What should I do?
This doesn't happen much, but occasionally you might run across an employee who has not yet learned the ways of the Keep It Local Card. If that's the case, don't panic. Just ask to speak with a manager who is familiar with Keep It Local OK and they should be able straighten things out. If that doesn't work, feel free to contact us directly and we'll try to get to the bottom of it.

This page was completely useless. Can I please ask the question that I want to ask now?!?
Email us and we'll respond promptly or, worst-case-scenario, fashionably late.
