Lyric Theatre was founded in 1963 by twelve Oklahomans who wanted to bring the art form of musical theatre to Oklahoma. This tradition has continued for over 45 years, and Lyric enriches the lives of over 50,000 Oklahomans annually.  Every summer, Lyric presents an electrifying season of classic, modern, and artistic musical theatre at the Civic Center Music Hall. By employing nationally recognized directors, designers, actors, artists and artisans who join local professionals from across the state, Lyric recreates the best of Broadway in Oklahoma City. Lyric Theatre also recently completed the renovation of the historic Plaza Theatre on NW 16th Street, bringing life back to this beloved neighborhood landmark. The renovated Plaza is now home to year-round productions of rarely-performed musicals, plays, performances by our Thelma Gaylord Academy students, and new works, all in an intimate 279-seat setting.
