Unwind and Amp Up in the 918

Posted: 4/12/18

Some are calling Tulsa the new tiny Austin. It's growing and it's so exciting! Here are a couple places to get a charge or unwind.

Fair Fellow Coffee Roasters

Fair Fellow Coffee Roasters

1 N Lewis Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74110 | 918-933-5070

Located in the heart of the Kendall Whittier District you'll find this naturally-lit space with an aroma of fresh coffee being roasted feet away. Bring your favorite book or laptop, plug in and get those creative juices flowing or meet your friends for an Owl Pacino or a Rose Latte. You won't be disappointed. They make all of their syrups from scratch and also carry an aromatic assortment of teas. The people of Fair Fellow care about 3 things: the farmer, the community, and the customer. The bulk of their beans come from a close direct relationship with farmer Loma La Gloria in El Salvador. They also fairly source beans from other countries like Kenya, Honduras, and Congo to name a few. Trust me when I say, Tulsa is glad to have you.

Cabin Boys Brewery

Cabin Boys Brewery

1717 E 7th Street, Tulsa, OK 74104 | 918-933-4033

Built with nothing but heart, this is the brewery everyone can't stop talking about. They opened in late 2017 and Tulsa has embraced them with open arms. Lit with twinkle lights and outfitted with handcut wooden tables, benches and a bartop, they offer a giant indoor space with cornhole, foozeball, and other games. Hosting weekly events from Trivia Nights to Swing Dancing Lessons, you heard me.

Let's talk beers... The Felis Et Tenebris is their American Stout, which is brewed with what they call "happiness," aka orange slices. It's roasty, chocolately, robust and crisp! If you want something lighter I recommend the Cornerstone Saison. Their take on this Belgian-style beer is rich and spicy, and it leaves you wanting more.

Press Cafe x Yoga

Press Cafe x Yoga

205 E Archer Street, Tulsa, OK 74103 | 539-664-4651

If yoga and coffee got married and had a baby, its name would be Press. And she's beautiful. If you're downtown you need to pop into this new one-stop healing cafe. Healing your gut with their smoothies made in-house, getting your caffeine fix with a cup of locally roasted Topeca Coffee, and improving your body and mind with one of their power and flow Vinyasa Yoga classes led by some of the best instructors in Tulsa. What is even more impressive is Press Yoga is the hub for Tulsa's only Vinyasa Yoga School, Viravinyasa. A 200 hour yoga program where you can learn to improve your personal practcie or learn to be a yoga teacher. Its overall a feel-good place with beautiful white on black decor.  website

Magic City Books

Magic City Books

221 E Archer Street, Tulsa, OK 74103 | 918-602-4452

Last fall introduced us to Tulsa's own "Shop Around the Corner" - Magic City Books. Independently owned by the Tulsa Literary Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, Magic City Books specializes in literary fiction and narrative nonfiction for adults. Stop by and sip on a glass of wine or a cup of Fair Fellow coffee, curl up in a comfy chair and let them be your destination for comfort. They host author events and even have free movie screenings. Bring your little ones with you and let them browse the children's section, pick a traditional favorite or something new, and plop down on a beanbag chair. You are sure to feel welcomed from the moment you walk in the door.  website
