GET TO KNOW...
Wade Starr, Owner/Partner
in Deep Fork Grill

01. What did you want to be when you were a kid?
I wanted to be in the restaurant business.  My first experience was as a customer at Mamma Mia's in Altus, OKLAHOMA, which sealed my fate.  When I was a few years older, I wanted to be a break dancer in Bryce Bandy's get fresh crew.

02. What was your first job?
My first job was as a dishwasher at Coit's on Penn. I moonlighted at night and cleaned Mademoiselle Fitness Center with a couple of friends.  It was the most disgusting job I have ever had.

03. What do you like to do in your free time?
I have two daughters, Grace and Sydney, and I spend all my free time with them.  We love to explore the outdoors, read, and watch Pet Star.

04. What's the best advice you've ever received?
Live life like there's no tomorrow.

05. How long have you been in business and how did you get started?
I've been in the restaurant business 25 years.  I was given the opportunity to become the owner of a restaurant because my partners believed in me.

06. Why do you choose to operate your business in Oklahoma as opposed to somewhere else?
Oklahoma is the greatest place on Earth.

07. Why do you think its important to keep it local?
It's all I know.  I would never support Starbucks over Red Cup, Chili's over Iron Starr, or Gap over War Paint Clothing Co.

08. What locally owned business (other than your own) could you not live without?
Chuck House, Red Cup, Someplace Else Deli, Tokyo Sushi, Forward Foods, The Wedge, Coit's, The Learning Tree, Full Circle, Blue 7, Shoe Gypsy and Sabi

09. Our Facebook fans want to know: What is it that sets you apart from the national chains and promotes loyal, repeat customers?
Fresh ingredients and supporting local vendors.  Our staff members love their job and strive to give the best dining experience in the city.

10. Our Twitter followers want to know: What drives you to keep doing what you do?
The customers drive me to keep doing this.  I want everyone that walks through our door to experience something special and unique. We are far from perfect and knowing this keeps me going!
